Explorations classes will have a rotating theme, such as wild-foraged arrangements, working with unconventional materials, or colour theory in floral design. Students will be notified in advance of each session’s focus. Though it's not necessary to take a Foundations Course first, it could be helpful!
Included
An exploration of the week’s theme, with a demonstration and in-depth discussion around design concepts.
Harvest your own materials—let the garden guide your inspiration.
Take home your arrangement in a simple glass vase or jar, or bring a favourite vessel from home.
Use of our floral tools and supplies.
Materials
Each session draws from the shifting abundance of the season:
June: A first taste of summer—cosmos, calendula, forget-me-nots, stock, and the drama of peonies and early dahlias.
July: The garden at full tilt—lush, rolling blooms in peak abundance. Delicate stems of foxglove, cosmos, and poppies bloom beside explosions of dahlias, sunflowers, and zinnias.
August: Harvest season—saturated colours, fruiting tomato vines, blackberry branches, and a riot of dahlias, snapdragons, zinnias, celosia.
September: A golden finale—deep-hued dahlias, rudbeckia, sunflowers, seedpods, grasses, and lavender anemones.
