Learn, grow, create
Welcome to our farm-based Flower School on Salt Spring Island.
Rooted in the fields, forests, and gardens of our working farm, our workshops approach floral design as a creative practice—one that goes beyond traditional arrangements to embrace the unexpected. We work with cultivated blooms, foraged branches, wild textures, and the shifting palettes of the seasons, encouraging new ways of seeing.
Whether you're just starting out or refining your craft, our workshops offer space to experiment, build confidence, and sharpen your eye. Our Field Workshops—Foundations and Explorations—focus on technique and composition, while Concept Workshops explore the intersection of florals, art, and storytelling.
Taught by floral designers and growers Molly Wilson and Zack Hemstreet, sometimes joined by guest designers, our workshops are hands-on and process-driven, shaped by years of working with flowers in the field, in the studio, and for events. Whether you're here to deepen your skills, shift your perspective, or immerse yourself in flowers for a day, we’d love to have you.
Workshops begin April 2025.
We’re going big on flowers this year—diving into hands-on learning in our barn studio, gathering stems straight from the garden, and exploring new ways to arrange, design, and create together.

Perfect for gatherings, team events, or anyone looking for a unique floral experience, on the farm or at the location of your choice.
We didn’t always know our work would be flowers, but we did know it would center around creative learning. From our first farm apprenticeship, we were drawn to the idea of sharing what we learned—every skill, hard lesson, and artful technique—through a hands-on, immersive school.
The past decade has been a vibrant mix of growing, designing, and experimenting with flowers, all of which have shaped the way we teach today.
Working with flowers is about more than arranging—it’s about exploring the intersections of art and nature, intuition and creativity.
We hope you leave our workshops seeing your environment in new ways. There’s no single “right” way to work with flowers, but we’ll share tools, techniques, and guiding principles to help you build a strong relationship with flowers and the natural world—so you can take your creative practice in your own unique direction with confidence.
We’re so excited to welcome you,
Story
-
People come to the farm with unique relationships to flowers - we welcome all, from absolute beginners to experienced designers. We adapt our teaching style to the level of each student, sharing practical techniques as well as encouraging experimentation and curiosity for creators of every level.
-
We explore form, colour and texture in the garden and how they contribute to unique arrangements in the vase. We’ll help you see potential everywhere, from weedy seed heads to hanging fruit. Every student has the opportunity to harvest and forage, following your own eye and developing your confidence to try new things.
-
While the end result is wonderful, we’re more interested in how we get there. We make space for a sense of wonder, and encourage you to listen to your intuition as you place every stem. It’s this focus and stillness, connecting with nature, that makes working with flowers so magnetic.

I loved my experience learning at the farm. Molly and Zack teach you to find beauty in unexpected places, be it in the interesting seed pods of freshly foraged native plants, or the varied hues of a bundle of dried thistles.I couldn't believe they let us walk through their flower fields armed with a bucket and shears, free to pick anything we wanted! It surprised me how much more confident I now feel arranging blooms in my own home.
